Alright, here is the story. My high pressure power steering line was leaking on my alternator causing it to die while I was driving one day. The wipers came on, gauges went out, aircon went out, radio went off. the main fusible link for the battery had completely melted, and I had to cut it out with razor blade. Also, the car would not shut off. Turns out the alternator was arcing, and I had 6 fuses blown in the car for the aircon, illum, wipers, gauges, and the fuse in the top right corner that is un-labled on the fuse cover. all 10a or less. I got the alternator replaced with a known good unit, and replaced the high pressure power steering line. while I had everything out, I stripped down and inspected the alternator harness for any damage. no damage found. Once all 6 blown fuses were replaced, the car started up, and everything worked great... for about 5 seconds. then the fuse for the gauges blew, as well as the unlabeled fuse in the top right corner of the fuse box. Also, the car would NOT shut off again. I stood by the fusible link to check if it was getting hot again, and it did not. that problem seems fixed. I had to pull the fusible link and the NEG terminal off the battery to get the car to die. Any ideas? I'm stumped, and need to get the Z back on the road after sitting all winter.
